Clearly I am riffing
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a 2026 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and has grossed $927 million worldwide (on a budget of $225 million). It also had the second-biggest opening weekend of all time.
Unlike in The Odyssey where I thought Tom Holland was miscast, here he does carry the movie with ease.
July was an eventful month. I presented The Second Quantum Revolution at our Executive Education program (for Mahindra, led by Sunder Kekre, recall “Literally in love with you”). Several of us Charter Members – including the founders Ashok Trivedi and Sunil Wadhwani – of TiE-Pittsburgh met for a sumptuous dinner at Lao Sze Chuan. Just the day before, some of us (TiE-Pittsburgh Angels, led by Atul Bansal and Ganesh Mani) completed our diligence of BMIOrganBank (yes, in the area of Organ Transplantation!) and we are investing in their seed round.

Neotribe (General Partner Kittu Kolluri and team) did their LP update. You know from Chasing BLLN (Liquid Biopsy, recall Holy Grail of Holy Grail) about the BilliontoOne IPO. The story continues. A short summary (of price per share):
Initial investment. $2.50. IPO target. $60. Day 1 high. $105. July close. $138.
It was wonderful to unexpectedly bump into Chuck Brownfield (SmartOps, took my OM Core as Tepper MBA, in 1998) and his wife (who took my undergraduate OM Core in 1995) at Vivo, and reminisce about SmartOps and other Tepper alums. (The past is not dead. It is not even past.)
Ended the month at Mara with Ben Rekhi (Thanks Kanwal for Breaking the Ind-US Code), son of Kanwal Rekhi (a co-founder of TiE) to discuss a possible theatrical screening in MSP, as well as executing a digital strategy for streaming distribution, of the documentary Breaking the Code.
And so July gives way to August. A brand new month, yes.
