2019. Hadestown. 2016. Hamilton. 2013. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. 2013. The Audience. 2012. Heiress. 2012. Once. 2011. Seminar. 2001. The Producers. 1999. Annie, Get Your Gun. 1996. Rent. 1996. Hughie. 1995. Tempest. 1993. Kiss of the Spiderwoman. 1989. Grand Hotel.
What triggered this post? Reading this article this morning from New York Times:
My gateway musical was Grand Hotel; I was astonished at the production quality (engineering and music).
Seeing Al Pacino in Hughie was a treat, especially since his 1992 Academy Award winning performance in Scent of a Woman remains one of my favorites.
Bernadette Peters dazzled in Annie, Get Your Gun. Alan Rickman was simply marvelous in Seminar. Once was so heartbreaking. Jessica Chastain delivered in Heiress, Helen Mirren sparkled in The Audience and Scarlett Johannson was predictably sizzling in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Hamilton was even better than I expected, and I had very high expectations. Hadestown? Superb!
Why did I list my favorite Broadway shows in chronologically reverse order, in backward sequence?
As a homage to the movie Memento, directed by Christopher Nolan, whose new movie Tenet, is opening this weekend, in movie theatres, and I am going to see it tonight!😊
Have a nice Labor Day weekend.
